1sts and 2nds falter, 3rds push on, and 4ths slip up at Stourbridge

1st XI

After the previous weekend’s epic win against Shrewsbury with Matt Lamb (108) and Tom Brown (63) seeing us chase down 227 having been reduced to 16 for 4, and then defeat in Sundays T20, the stop-start form continued with our visit to Kidderminster last Saturday.

Put into bat by our hosts, only Ed Pollock (29), Andy Sutton (24) and Adam Hines (19) reached double figures before being bowled out for 101. Despite two wickets from Andy Sutton, Kidderminster reached their total in the 21st over.

2nd XI

The 2nds welcomed Attock to Cherry Hill Road last Saturday. Our visitors won the toss and elected to field in this rain affected 37-over affair, and it was a similar story for the 2nds. Dismissed for 107 with opener Ed Rhodes top scoring with 20, the visitors took just 14 overs to see them to their target - Mohin Khan (55*) and Aarib Khan (39*) with the runs.

3rd XI

Meanwhile up at the Douglas Ground, the 3rds entertained Stourbridge CC in the game of the day. With the visitors put into bat, 3 wickets apiece from Smart and Wakeman and a first wicket from Charlie Hanson in 30-odd years restricted the visitors to 179 for 7 off their 40 overs.

Not to be outdone by Hanson, Gus Mckay then proceeded to test the new fence, hitting 6 maximums in one over on his way to 80. Darren Cullen also chipped in with a useful 66 helping the 3rds to the fourth win of the season.

4th XI

Stourbridge’s Greenfields ground was the venue for the 4ths match on Saturday, with Stourbridge electing to bat. 2 wickets each from Iain Kings, Bilal Khan, Jamie Smith and Alastair Hick could not prevent the 4th slipping to defeat – Stourbridge putting on 200 for 9 in their 45 overs.

In reply, only Steve Dodd with 60 really got going, with us being bowled out for 134.

The 1st XI entertain Ombersley this Saturday (ground conditions permitting) - play due to start at 12pm.

2nd XI are at Ombersley, 3rds travel to Tenbury & 4ths are at home to Tenbury.
