Batting first, the Green were indebted to Will Baker's 67 to help them to 215 for 8 before rain intervened. Both sides shared 8 points in a day that saw frustration also for our 2nd XI.
Our 2nds travelled to Coventry & North Warwickshire on Saturday where another rain-affected match did produce a result thanks to the vagaries of the rain delay-spreadsheet. With 2 overs lost during Barnt Green innings of 149 all out, Coventry's target was recalculated as 147 to win off 43 overs at a revised run rate of 3.41.
When rain halted play after 23 overs and with Coventry on 104 for 4, Coventry took the spoils on better run-rate.
The 3rds were in action at Neel Park, playing hosts Old Elizabethans. Under 14 pairing George Homer and Hayden Froggatt scored 32 and 21 respectively opening the batting, before Froggatt Senior weighed in with 42. The match was abandoned after the Green were bowled out for 216.
Bilal Khan took 4 wickets for Barnt Green's 4th XI, helping to bowl out visitors Old Elizabethans for 173. Dan Meredith and Michael Wakeman saw the Green to 55 for no loss before the rain intervened.
