Green denied maximum points by weather

On a cloud covered rainy day where the match was reduced at the start to 38 overs per side, Barnt Green won the toss and elected to bowl first.

With more rain forecast, it seemed to be the most sensible decision to get maximum points out of the game. Himley though didn't see it that way and came out all guns blasting with an outstanding 1st wicket stand of 92. Worcestershire's in-form Tom Kohler-Cadmore (65) and Jamie Harris (29) put the bad ball away and ran very well between the wickets.

Once Harris was run out superbly by Tom Brown from the deep, the game changed and Barnt Geen tightened the screw in the field. Some fantastic spin bowling with a wet ball that was tough to grip by Josh Poysden (3-29) and Simon Mugava (3-30) then restricted Himley to 171-9 off their 38 overs. The entire team showed great fight and guts to pull them back to that score.

Barnt Green had to chase down 171 in 20 overs for the outright win but the winning draw target was a more achievable target of 110.

Like Himley's openers, the Green's own Will Baker (36) and Nathan Newport (27) got Barnt Green off to a flyer, smashing
58 off the first 6 overs. A good little spell from Dan Smith (3-27) slowed that progress so the winning draw target was the goal.

Sam Cheshire (29) came to the crease and got the job done in the final over hitting two big 6's to get the Green over the winning draw target. A superb effort from the whole team and club members on and off the field getting the covers on and mopping up to get the game going.

Finally, a massive thank you to Himley and the umpires for sticking around to get a game on.
