With Bromsgrove winning the toss and choosing to bat, Barnt Green's bowling attack and good fielding restricted Bromsgrove to 56 for 4 off their 20 overs.
With this being a new format for this age-group, Bromsgrove acquitted themselves well losing few wickets. For Barnt Green, there was a wicket apiece for Greaves, Heptinstall and Heap.
However, Barnt Green's batsmen set about the chase from the off, showing some good running between the wickets. With the opening pair of Hewetson and Warner setting a good platform with some excellent strokes, they reached 33 before a mini collapse gave Bromsgrove some hope.
But it was Greaves and Whitton who saw The Green over the line with 9 overs to spare, reaching 59 for 4 off a boundary. The teams decided to make use of the good weather and make use of the full 20 overs.
With both sides' spectators enjoying some good cricket and most boys playing this format of the game for the first time, the day showed both sides in the best light possible.
Our thanks go to everyone at Bromsgrove for making the morning enjoyable and for their efforts in getting the ground ready after Saturday's downpours.
We look forward to visiting again later in the month.
Barnt Green will play either Halesowen or Belbroughton away in the Quarter Final. The tie is to be played by Sunday 27th July.
